Communications infrastructure for the AI era, from the people who built the substrate the industry already runs on.
Compose AI agents, human agents, and real-time communications into one system you control in code. One programmable platform for everything that happens on a call. Built by the creators of FreeSWITCH.

OUR HISTORY
20 years of communications innovation. Built for what's next.
SignalWire was founded by the engineers who built FreeSWITCH and helped power the modern communications industry. Today, we're building the programmable communications platform the world runs on.

THE CATEGORY
Programmable Unified Communications
The missing layer of cloud communications. Voice, messaging, video, and AI built on one programmable substrate, not stitched together from separate services. This is the category the AI era requires, defined by the team building it.

FAQS
What's the relationship between SignalWire and FreeSWITCH?
SignalWire was founded by the team that created FreeSWITCH: the open-source telephony engine that has been running underneath some of the largest communications platforms in the world since 2006, including Zoom Phone, Amazon Connect, and Vonage. SignalWire employs the original FreeSWITCH authors and continues to maintain the project today. FreeSWITCH is the media engine, the real-time voice substrate the industry built on. SignalWire is what the same team built on top of it: a cloud-native platform with the programmable control plane, state management, and AI orchestration layer that FreeSWITCH alone was never designed to provide.
Who are SignalWire's investors?
SignalWire has raised approximately $45M in total capital from a combination of venture and strategic investors. Our strategic investors include partners who operate at the infrastructure layer of the communications industry, the kind of investors who understand what it means to own the stack, not assemble it. How is SignalWire different from Twilio or other CPaaS?
Traditional CPaaS providers like Twilio treat communications as transactions because they deliver a call, fire a webhook, and leave state management, routing, context, and orchestration for your engineering team to rebuild in application code. That model worked for a decade. AI broke it. SignalWire is built on a fundamentally different architecture: a control plane that stays attached to the live interaction, owns its state, and governs what every participant, human, AI, or system, can do next. The difference isn't a feature. It's the layer that was always missing. SignalWire is also Twilio-compatible at the API level, so existing Twilio code can migrate without rewriting.
