The control plane
needs builders
The infrastructure of the next decade will look fundamentally different from the last one. Build it alongside the engineers who wrote FreeSWITCH.

What you'd be working on
Define a category, not only a product
The team has been building real-time communications infrastructure for nearly two decades and is now building the programmable layer on top. You'll work close to a real product, built by people who deeply understand it, in a category we're actively defining.
Voice AI agents
Agents that run natively inside the media engine.
One surface, any language
Python, Node, Go, and Ruby share one declarative API.
The programmable layer: SWML
You'll turn complex call logic into clean, readable code.
The engine the industry runs on
FreeSWITCH powers the calls the world depends on.
Carrier-grade from the ground up
We own our PSTN and SIP stack across 80+ countries.

OUR MISSION
Trust & understanding
Foster inclusivity by centering respect and understanding in every interaction.
Embrace global community
We thrive on diverse perspectives, uniting minds from every corner.
Own, iterate, complete
We see problems through to the end, and always close the loop.
Work to a common goal
We pull in the same direction, sharing context openly so every team ships toward the same outcome.
Life at SignalWire
Career growth, by building hard things
We work from everywhere, then gather in person to build, learn, and trade war stories like our regional developer workshops and annual ClueCon conference.

Fully distributed
Across multiple countries and time zones. Wherever you do your best work.
Engineering-led
Most decisions get made by people who've shipped real-time infrastructure at scale.
Career growth & learning
Our employees are paving the way to a new version of reality and are being exposed to new technology as it emerges.
WORKING HERE
Benefits that come standard
We believe taking care of people is a prerequisite for doing great work. Every full-time US-based role includes the same coverage for your health, your time, and your future. Nothing here is a perk you negotiate for.
Health insurance
Comprehensive medical coverage for you and your dependents.
Vision / Dental
Full vision and dental, because the small things add up.
Unlimited PTO
Take the time you need to rest, recharge, and come back sharp.
9 Paid US holidays
Observed company-wide so everyone gets the same days back.
401k with matching
Invest in your future with a company match on contributions.
Work from home
Fully remote by default. Build from wherever you call home.

FAQS
Is SignalWire remote-friendly?
Yes, SignalWire is fully remote. We don't have a physical headquarters. We like to say we're based on the internet. Our team is distributed, and we hire across approved locations without requiring relocation.
Where is SignalWire based?
SignalWire is headquartered on the internet. We're a fully remote company with no central office, and our team operates across time zones. If you're looking for a building to visit, you won't find one, but you will find a team building infrastructure that some of the largest communications platforms in the world run on.
What's the interview process like?
It varies by role, but most processes follow a similar shape: an initial screen with our team, a conversation with the hiring manager, and interviews with the people you'd work with directly. Many roles also include a short exercise or assignment relevant to the actual work. We try to keep the process focused and move quickly. Most candidates know where they stand within a few weeks.
What’s the relationship between SignalWire and FreeSWITCH?
SignalWire was founded by the team that created FreeSWITCH, the open-source telephony engine that powers Zoom Phone, Amazon Connect, Vonage, and many others. SignalWire employs the original FreeSWITCH authors and continues to maintain the project today. FreeSWITCH is the substrate, the media engine the industry runs on. SignalWire is the programmable platform built on top of it, adding the control plane, AI orchestration, and cloud-native infrastructure that FreeSWITCH alone doesn't provide.
What does SignalWire do?
SignalWire is a programmable communications infrastructure platform. It is the control plane that voice calls, video, messaging, and AI agents run on. Traditional cloud communications platforms treat calls and messages as transactions, leaving state management, routing, and orchestration for engineering teams to build themselves. SignalWire owns that layer. We're the infrastructure underneath the AI voice market, built by the same team that wrote the engine the industry has been running on for 20 years.
Do I need telephony experience to work in engineering?
No, not for most roles. SignalWire works at the intersection of real-time communications and AI infrastructure, but the engineering problems span distributed systems, developer tooling, SDKs, AI orchestration, and more. If you're a strong engineer who's curious about how real-time communications actually works, you'll learn the domain quickly and you'll be learning it from the people who built it.
Does SignalWire sponsor visas?
We're not able to sponsor work visas at this time. Candidates need existing authorization to work in one of our approved hiring locations. If you're unsure whether your situation qualifies, reach out and we're happy to clarify before you invest time in the process.
