Do we need a database at all? Can we just share data directly from one Kamailio to another?"

This week on ClueCon Weekly, host Luca is joined by Viktor Litvinov — lead developer at Net2Phone and open-source contributor — for a deep dive into Kamailio's Distributed Message Queue (KDMQ) module and the improvements he's been working on.

Viktor walks through why KDMQ exists in the first place: real-time data replication without external database dependencies. From there, the conversation covers what's already been improved and what still needs doing.

What's covered:

  • Moving beyond SIP as a transport for KDMQ messages

  • Stateless message sending for performance gains

  • New RPC commands for cluster management

  • The KDMQ peer ID, for isolating replication across sites or deployments

  • A last-write-wins approach to conflict resolution
